
Dallas Stars Recall Defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy

Cedar Park, TX - The Dallas Stars announced Monday that the club has placed defenseman Karlis Skrastins on injured reserve, retroactive to Dec. 3. The Stars have also recalled defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy from the Texas Stars - Dallas' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Skrastins, 35, suffered a laceration on his right index finger on Dec. 3 against Anaheim. He has skated in 28 games for the Stars in 2009-10, collecting five assists and eight penalty minutes. The Riga, Latvia native, ranks 10th in the NHL in blocked shots with 63. Skrastins has played in 707 career NHL games, recording 115 points (27g, 88a). The 6-1, 208-pound defenseman signed a two-year contract with Dallas on July 2, 2009.
Vishnevskiy, 21, has played in 27 games for Texas collecting four goals and six assists for 10 points this season. He appeared in three games for Dallas in 2008-09, recording two assists. The Barnaul, Russia native, spent most of last season with Peoria Rivermen of the AHL, where he played in 67 games, tallying 19 points (6g, 13a). Vishnevskiy was drafted in the first round (27th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by Dallas.
