Cedar Park, TX - The Dallas Stars announced on Monday that the club has recalled defenseman Jordie Benn from the Texas Stars, Dallas' primary affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Benn, 24, collected one assist in his two games for Dallas this season. He became the 10th player in Dallas Stars history to record his first NHL point in his first NHL game on Jan. 3 in Nashville. Along with younger brother Jamie Benn, they became the third set of brothers in Dallas Stars history and the sixth in team history to play in an NHL game together. He will wear the number 58 with Dallas.
The second-year Star played in 56 games for Texas this season, leading all defensemen with nine goals and 28 points. The Victoria, BC native has played in 116 games with Texas over two years, scoring 11 times and assiting 29 others for 40 points.
Texas faces off against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday, March 13th at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday is an HEB Night, fans may bring any HEB brand non-perishable food item to the box office and receive $5 off their ticket price. The Stars take on the Oklahoma City Barons on Friday, March 16th at 7:30 p.m. Friday is a 3-2-1 night featuring $3 domestic drafts, $2 sodas, and $1 hot dogs. The first 2,500 fans to Friday's game will receive a player magnet courtesy of Time Warner Cable. The Stars remain home for a 7:00 p.m. faceoff against the Barons on Saturday, March 17th. Saturday features the State Farm Family Four Pack, consisting of four tickets, four sodas, and four hot dogs starting at $48. The first 2,500 fans at Saturday's game will also receive a Texas Stars t-shirt, presented by CTRMA.
