On Sunday afternoon, behind three third-period goals and 27 saves from Janus, the Admirals wrapped up the weekend with a 6-3 victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The Admirals return home on Wednesday night for the fourth of five meetings at Scope with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in another Admirals Value Night. Norfolk then travels to Charlotte on Friday and Sunday to square off against the Checkers in the final two installments of the GEICO Challenge Cup.

ADMIRALS' LOG

- Norfolk's current 15-game winning streak is the third-longest winning streak in the American Hockey League since the Admirals joined the AHL in 2000-01.

- Norfolk's streak, which dates back to Feb. 10 vs. Adirondack, is the longest winning streak in the AHL since the Syracuse Crunch won an AHL-record 18 regular season games from March 9 - October 17, 2008. During their streak, the Crunch won 15 games to end the 2007-08 season and three games to begin in the 2008-09 season.

- The longest AHL winning streak contained within a single season was accomplished by the Philadelphia Phantoms when they won 17 consecutive games from October 22 - November 27, 2004.

- The Admirals have established a new franchise record with eight consecutive road victories, passing the previous mark of seven straight wins away from Scope, which was set from December 29, 2002 - February 7, 2003.

- The last time the Admirals were in first place overall in the American Hockey League this late in the season was March 31, 2007, when they held a one-point advantage over the Hershey Bears.

- During the streak, the Admirals are averaging 4.00 goals a game and only allowing 1.73 goals against per game.

- With 87 points (42-18-1-2), Norfolk has tied the best all-time record through 63 games in AHL Admirals history (2006-07, 41-17-4-1).

- The Admirals have established an AHL Admirals franchise record for road victories (23), passing the previous record of 21 set in 2005-06.

- Norfolk has played in 104 sets of three-games-in-three-days all-time, winning all three games only 11 times. They've won three sets of three-games-in-three-days during their 15-game winning streak alone.

- Jaroslav Janus became the first AHL Admirals goaltender to win all three games of a three-games-in-three-days set. He stopped 76 of 81 shots during the three games for a 1.67 goals-against average and .938 save percentage. Janus joined St. John's goaltender Eddie Pasquale as the only AHL goaltenders to record three wins last week.

- Tyler Johnson has points in seven consecutive games (6g, 9a) marking the longest active point streak in the American Hockey League. He also leads the Admirals in goals (9), assists (15), points (24) and plus/minus (+14) during the team's 15-game winning streak.

- Only eight players have appeared in all 15 games during Norfolk's 15-game winning streak: Johnson, Cory Conacher, Mark Barberio, Richard Panik, Ondrej Palat, Jean-Philippe Cote Radko Gudas and Scott Jackson.

- Conacher continues to lead the American Hockey League in rookie scoring with 68 points (31g, 37a) while Johnson is now third in the AHL with 52 points (24g, 28a).

- After Norfolk's games in Charlotte, the Admirals will commence a seven-game homestand to round out the home portion of their regular season schedule from March 23 - April 7.

TYLER JOHNSON NAMED REEBOK/AHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Earlier this afternoon, the American Hockey League announced that Norfolk Admirals center Tyler Johnson was selected as the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending March 11, 2012.

Johnson totaled four goals and four assists for eight points as Norfolk swept its three-game road weekend and extended its winning streak to 15 games, two shy of the AHL record.

On Friday night, Johnson scored twice in the opening period of Norfolk's 3-1 victory over the Adirondack Phantoms. The next night, Johnson assisted on the game-winning goal and added an empty-netter as Norfolk defeated Connecticut 3-1. Finally, in Bridgeport on Sunday, Johnson led the way with a goal and three assists in Norfolk's 6-3 decision over the Sound Tigers, extending his personal scoring streak to seven games (6-9-15).

Johnson, a 21-year-old native of Spokane, Wash., has 24 goals and 28 assists for 52 points in 62 games for Norfolk this season, ranking third among all AHL rookies in scoring. Signed as a free agent by the Tampa Bay Lightning on Mar. 7, 2011, Johnson played four junior seasons with Spokane in the WHL, winning a Memorial Cup title in 2008 and helping the United States to a gold medal at the 2010 World Junior Championships.

In recognition of his achievement, Johnson will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Admirals home game.

Johnson becomes the seventh Norfolk Admirals player to be named the AHL Player of the Week and the second player this season, joining Carter Ashton (week ending October 9).
