Dallas Assigns Wathier To Texas

Cedar Park, TX - The Dallas Stars announced Friday that left wing Francis Wathier has been assigned to the Texas Stars, Dallas' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). Texas also announced that defenseman Trevor Ludwig has been assigned to Idaho (ECHL).

Wathier made his NHL debut in Anaheim, a 4-2 win for the Stars at the Honda Center on Wednesday night. The winger recorded three shots and five penalty minutes in his first NHL game. The 24-year old has appeared in six games for Texas this season, notching two assists, a plus-2 rating and two penalty minutes. The St. Isidore, ON native played for the Iowa Chops of the AHL last season. In 77 games with Iowa, Wathier scored six goals and added ten assists for 16 points. Wathier was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the sixth round (#185 overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Ludwig has played in two games for Texas this season, going scoreless with two penalty minutes. The 24-year old defenseman played 35 games with Idaho in 2008-09, scoring twice and adding eight assists for ten points. The Grapevine, TX native also suited up in 16 games for the AHL's Manitoba Moose last season, going scoreless with 18 penalty minutes.

The Dallas Stars drafted Ludwig in the sixth round (#183 overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Ludwig is the son of former NHLer Craig Ludwig, who played for the Dallas Stars, Minnesota North Stars, Montreal Canadiens and N.Y. Islanders.

Texas continues a three-game home stand on Friday, October 23rd at 7:30 pm in a rematch with Lake Erie. Cedar Park Regional Medical Center presents Friday's game, providing "Thundersticks" to the first 2,000 fans. On Saturday, October 24th, Texas will host the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:00 pm. State Farm presents the Family Four Pack Saturday, including four hockey tickets, four sodas and four hot dogs for $44.00. The first 2,000 fans to the game on Saturday receive a Texas Stars Sports bottle.
