Portland Pirates News Release
Portland, Maine - The Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League announced this afternoon that they have signed Mark McCutcheon to a Professional Tryout Agreement.
McCutcheon, who attended the Pirates 2009 Training Camp, started the season with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL where he scored one goal and two assists for three points in three games. The 25 year-old is a veteran of two AHL seasons with the Lake Erie Monsters. In 128 games the Cornell grad scored eight goals and 18 assists for 26 points to go along with 143 minutes in penalties.
The Ithica, NY native joined the Pirates in Norfolk for practice this morning.
In another roster move, Pirates rookie forward Maxime Legault has returned to Shawinigan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Legault went pointless in five games.
The Pirates (2-5) continue a five game road trip tonight (Friday) when they travel to Norfolk for the first of back-to-back games against the Admirals. Both games can be heard live on News Talk WLOB 95.5FM and on-line at www.portlandpirates.com beginning with the pre-game show at 7 p.m. The trip concludes Sunday when the Pirates are in Hershey to meet the defending Calder Cup Champion Bears in a 5 p.m. start.
The next Pirates home game takes place Friday, October 30th when the Lowell Devils visit the CCCC on Breast Cancer Awareness Night, presented by Paradigm Window Solutions. The Pirates will wear commemorative pink jerseys, which will be included in a silent auction during and following the game. The proceeds of the auction, as well as a portion of the game's 50/50 sales will be donated to the Maine Medical Center Cancer Institute's Breast Care Center. In addition, the Pirates have committed to donate $3 from every advanced ticket purchased through this promotion to the Maine Medical Center Cancer Institute's Breast Care Center to help promote breast health and research. In order for a donation to be made, tickets for the October 30th game must be purchased by calling the Pirates ticket office at (207) 828-4665 ext. 317. Advance or game-day tickets purchased at the CCCC Box Office will not qualify for the $3 donation.
