Peoria Rivermen News Release
PEORIA, Ill. (October 23, 2009) - Peoria Rivermen Chief Operating Officer Josh Morin announced tonight that Chaske Spencer, who plays Sam Uley in the upcoming release The Twilight Saga: New Moon, will replace Kellan Lutz at Saturday night's Rivermen game.
Lutz was originally scheduled to appear however he has not been released from the set of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse which is currently filming in Vancouver, British Columbia. He will appear at a Rivermen game later on this season however the date has yet to be set.
"It is unfortunate but these things happen in the movie industry and it is completely out of our control," said Morin. "We are still excited about Kellan coming to a Rivermen game later on but we are just as excited to have Chaske coming to meet our fans. We understand there will be some disappointment and that is why we are allowing fans to use their ticket from Saturday's game to come back again when Kellan comes to town."
All previously scheduled events will remain as scheduled including the autograph signing for all fans from 6-9 p.m. on the Carver Arena concourse. All fans with a ticket for Saturday's game can exchange their used or unused ticket stub at the Peoria Civic Center box office for the game in which Lutz is rescheduled to appear at.
His appearance, presented by CEFCU - Your Credit Union - in association with Comcast, 97.3 RiverCountry, and the Peoria Journal Star E-Z Pay program, comes less than one month before the release of his latest movie The Twilight Saga: New Moon. In New Moon as well as Eclipse, Spencer plays the leader of the "Wolf Pack." After spending years working in theater, New Moon will be Spencer's feature film debut.
The Rivermen are inviting current season ticket holders to arrive at the game by 5 p.m. and be the first in line to meet Spencer. Rivermen season ticket holders can lineup at the "Red Carpet" entrance (in the Great Hall of the Peoria Civic Center) and will be lead to the front of the autograph line. Season ticket holders MUST be present at the entrance by 5 p.m. and show their Rivermen Rewards Card in order to take advantage of this VIP treatment.
He will sign autographs from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the concourse of Carver Arena. Autographs will be free of charge and color pictures of Spencer will be available to purchase for $5.
The Rivermen host the Rockford IceHogs on Saturday at 7 p.m. in their fourth meeting of the young season. Tickets are available at the Peoria Civic Center box office, by calling 309-676-1040, or online through www.rivermen.net/tickets.
