Admirals Double Pirates

Norfolk, VA - Brandon Bochenski scored twice and added an assist to lead the Norfolk Admirals to a 4-2 win over the Portland Pirates in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 3,033 at the Scope Arena.

Paul Szczechura added a goal and an assist for the Admirals while Ryan Craig rounded out the goal scoring. Radek Smolenak collected two assists in a winning effort for Norfolk, who improved to 3-4 with the win.

Paul Byron and Tyler Ennis scored for the Pirates, who dropped to 2-6 on the season.

The Admirals led 2-0 after one and built a 4-0 lead eight minutes into the second period before Byron and Ennis scored back-to-back goals in under three minutes to close the gap to 4-2 by the end of the second and complete the scoring.

The Admirals out shot the Pirates 23-16 in the game as Jhonas Enroth took the loss.

The three stars of the game were all from the Admirals. Bochenski was the first, Szczechura the second and defenseman Mike Lundin the third.

The Pirates complete a two-game set against the Admirals and continue a five-game road trip tomorrow (Saturday) night at the Scope Arena. The game can be heard live on News Talk WLOB 95.5FM and on-line at www.portlandpirates.com beginning with the pre-game show at 7 p.m. The trip concludes Sunday when the Pirates are in Hershey to meet the defending Calder Cup Champion Bears in a 5 p.m. start.

The next Pirates home game takes place Friday, October 30th when the Lowell Devils visit the CCCC on Breast Cancer Awareness Night, presented by Paradigm Window Solutions. The Pirates will wear commemorative jerseys, which will be included in a silent auction during and following the game. The proceeds of the auction, as well as a portion of the game's 50/50 sales, will be donated to the Maine Medical Center Cancer Institute's Breast Care Center. In addition, the Pirates have committed to donate $3 from every advanced ticket purchased through this promotion to the Maine Medical Center Cancer Institute's Breast Care Center to help promote breast health and research. In order for a donation to be made, tickets for the October 30th game must be purchased by calling the Pirates ticket office at (207) 828-4665 ext. 317. Advance or game-day tickets purchased at the CCCC Box Office will not qualify for the $3 donation.
