
'Dads Slug Their Way to a Pair of Victories over Kannnapolis

Hickory, NC - The 'Dads picked up a pair of victories over the first-place Kannapolis Intimidators on Tuesday. The Crawdads defeated Kannapolis 8-6 in a resumed game late this afternoon and won the regularly scheduled game on a walkoff double by Sam Huff.
The 'Dads and Intimidators kicked off the homestand Tuesday afternoon by continuing a postponed game from May 20th. The game was delayed with two outs in the sixth due to weather with the score tied at 5. The game was started in Kannapolis as part of a doubleheader so it was scheduled as a seven-inning game. With the score tied after seven, it went into extra innings with a runner starting for each team at second base.
The Crawdads scored three runs in the top of the ninth to give them an 8-5 lead. The scoring started with a ground-rule double by 'Dads All-Star Yohel Pozo. Ryan Dorow and Yonny Hernandez followed up with doubles of their own that each added a run. The Intimidators added a run in the bottom half of the inning but the Crawdads held on for an 8-6 victory.
In the second game, the 'Dads got the scoring started with a sacrifice fly by Dorow that brought in a run.
Kannapolis struck back in the top of the second with four runs off Crawdads starter Alex Eubanks.
The Crawdads rallied in the bottom half of the inning with a three-run homerun by Pedro Gonzalez that tied the game at 4.
Kannapolis retook the lead in the top of the fourth with another run off Eubanks.
The 'Dads bats surged back in the bottom half of the inning as Pedro Gonzalez drove in two more runs with a double down the left field line. Pozo hit a single to right that brought in Gonzalez and gave the 'Dads a 7-5 lead.
The Crawdads increased their lead with a solo homerun by Tyreque Reed, his 5thof the season, in the fifth inning. In the sixth, Preston Scott doubled in another run that pushed the lead to four.
In the top of the eighth, Kannapolis picked up a run to set the stage for a two-out rally in the ninth that gave them a 10-9 lead.
In the bottom of the ninth, Dorow sparked the 'Dads offense with a single to left. Reed reached on a fielding error that put two runners on. Reed was lifted for pinch runner Yonny Hernandez. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch with Sam Huff batting. Huff, named an all-star this morning, doubled to center to bring around Dorow and Hernandez and give the 'Dads a walkoff win
The 'Dads will take on the Intimidators again tomorrow morning with a 10:30am start. The series will wrap up on Thursday with a 40thAnniversary of the movie Grease celebration. Fans who dress up as their favorite character will get a free ticket to the game. It is also Teacher Appreciation Night so teachers who show their school ID can get a free ticket. Drinks will be discounted throughout the night as part of Thirsty Thursday. DJ Curtis Brown will be taking the stage for the post-game Thirsty Thursday concert presented by Cody Law Firm.
