Winston-Salem, NC- The Crawdads took down the Charleston RiverDogs 5-3 on Friday night. The 'Dads managed just three hits, but eight walks and six steals were pivotal as they improved to 23-18 to stay a half game out of first place in the South.

The Crawdads got things started early, manufacturing a trio of runs in the first inning without a hit. Yolfran Castillo walked on five pitches to lead off the game then stole his 18th and 19th bases to reach third. Hector Osorio worked back from down 0-2 to draw another walk and put runners on the corners. A pickoff error by the catcher, and subsequently an error by the right fielder, resulted in Castillo being able to come home to score the first run of the game. The wildness continued as Paulino Santana was hit on the elbow. Marcos Torres grounded into a force out of Santana at second but scored Osorio. Torres quickly stole second and third to set up a sacrifice fly from Josh Springer.

Charleston plated runs in the second and third but the Crawdads were able to hold off their threats in the fourth to tie the game. Crawdads starter Kamdyn Perry finished his evening with 4.1 innings and yielding the two earned runs. JD McReynolds entered in relief of Perry, stranding two runners to close the book on Perry's night.

In the fifth, the Crawdads added a run as Angel Arredondo doubled and came in on a base hit by Hector Osorio. The final run of the evening came in the seventh with a walk and stolen base from Osorio followed by a double by Paulino Santana.

Frank Martinez allowed a run in the seventh across his 1.1 innings. Michael Trausch, who earned the win, pitched 1.2 before handing the ball to Luimy Munoz who closed the door with three ground outs in the ninth for his first save of the season.

The Crawdads lead the series 3-1 heading into Saturday. AJ Russell will get the start for the 'Dads.
