Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

TRENTON, New Jersey - For the eleventh time this season the Cincinnati Cyclones rallied from a deficit and took a victory. Jake Dietrich's ninth goal of the season with 3:30 remaining gave the club a 3-2 win over the Trenton Devils. The victory also moved the Cyclones into a first place tie in the North Division. Loic Lacasse stopped 26 shots and Matt Syroczynski scored a pair of goals in the triumph.

There was no scoring in the first period as each team had a power play chance but was unable to convert. The shots on goal were even as well at seven apiece.

The Cyclones scored the first goal of the game 12:25 into the second period when Matt Syroczynski collected his 17th goal of the season taking a feed from Mark Van Guilder out of the right corner. The score was the 40th time in 62 games that Cincinnati lit them lamp first this season. Trenton responded with a pair of goals on a five-on-three power play. Eric Castonguay's 20th of the year at 17:42 knotted the scores and then 49 seconds later Trevor Kell's score gave Trenton the lead at 2-1. Nineteen seconds later (at 18:50), Syroczynski stole a pass in the slot and victimized Gerald Coleman for his second score of the night and his 18th of the campaign. The shots on goal in the period favored Cincinnati, 15-7.

Jake Dietrich scored his ninth goal of the campaign at 16:30, when he grabbed a puck at the top of the goal crease and fired a backhander past Coleman to close the scoring. Rookie Adma Krug and Mac Faulkner handed out the assists on the score. It was Dietrich's second goal with Cincinnati and his first since netting a score in his Cyclones debut on February 6. The shots on goal favored Trenton in the third period, 14-10, but for the game Cincinnati held the edge, 32-28.

Loic Lacasse stopped 26 shots to improved to 7-5-1 on the year. Gerald Coleman stopped 29 shots and had his record dip to 24-8-2 on the campaign.

Cincinnati is now tied with Wheeling for the North Division lead with 73 points. Johnstown and Trenton are in third place, each with 72 points and Elmira is in fifth place with 71 points. Only the top four teams will advance to the Kelly Cup playoffs from the North Division.

The Cyclones are now 34-23-5 on the season, while Trenton is 33-23-6. The Cyclones return to U.S. Bank Arena for games against the Gwinnett Gladiators on Wednesday, March 18 and Thursday, March 19 at 7:30pm each night.
