Idaho Steelheads News Release

West Valley City, UT- The Idaho Steelheads (36-21-4) were shutout for the second straight game as the Utah Grizzlies (25-23-16) skated to a 3-0 win. The Steelheads have now dropped three games consecutively; their longest losing streak of the season.

The first period indicated the game would be a goalie's duel. With both teams flying to Utah on the day of the game, Rejean Beauchemin steered away all nine Utah shots he saw in the opening frame, and Robert Gherson stopped all five Idaho shots.

The game stayed a scoreless tie through two periods, as the netminders continued to battle. However, a point shot through traffic broke the tie at 2:33 of the third period, as Jordan Hart's shot founds its way through Beauchemin. The goal would be the eventual game-winner. Tom May scored with just under 90 seconds remaining, and Scott Thauwald would be credited with an empty-netter after a Steelheads outlet pass took a bad bounce into the empty net.

Beauchemin's record falls to 14-10-3 with the loss; he stopped 24 of 26. Gherson improved to 4-1-0 with the shutout, as he stopped all 22 Idaho shots sent his way.

The Steelheads are back in action Wednesday night in Victoria to take on the Salmon Kings.
