Huge Crowd Witnesses Valiant Effort As Sea Wolves Fall On Late Goal To Florida

BILOXI, MS - Ryan Cruthers scored his 28th goal of the season, and Jason Tejchma got the Sea Wolves on the board with a shorthand marker in the first period, but the Florida Everblades defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves by the score of 3-2 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Saturday evening in front of 7.412 fans.

Florida got on the scoreboard with its' first shot of the night early in the first period, capitalizing on a giveaway in the defensive zone by Martin Frechette when Ernie Hartlieb fed the puck out of the right-wing corner to Colin Nicholson, who fired past Sea Wolves goalie Ryan Munce for his 11th goal of the season.

Jason Tejchma drew the Sea Wolves even when he potted his team-leading third shorthand goal of the season, taking a pass from Mark Rooneem on a two-on-one rush and burying it behind Everblades netminder Kyle Gajewski at 9:01 of the first period.

Ryan Cruthers' 28th goal of the season, a redirection of Matt Deschamps shot from the point, gave Mississippi a 2-1 lead at 5:06 of the third period. Florida's Colin Nicholson drew the game even when he redirected Dominic D'Amour's shot from the left point past Munce at 10:56 of the third. Florida took the lead for good when Milan Gajic walked in from the right wing corner and roofed the puck at 17:19.

Ryan Munce made 28 saves to earn a loss, and the Sea Wolves were 0-for-6 on the power play.

The next broadcast of Sea Wolves hockey is next Friday when the Sea Wolves visit the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:05 CT, and will be heard on the B2 Networks and at www.msseawolves.com. The pre-game show presented by Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will begin 15 minutes before the opening faceoff!
