Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight the Cyclones will look to close out the 2010 calendar year with another win over their I-75 rivals, the Toledo Walleye. This season, the Cyclones have taken four of six meetings - including a 2-1 overtime victory at U.S. Bank Arena on November 10. All but one of the games in this season series has been decided by two goals or less.
SCOUTING THE WALLEYE: Nick Vitucci's club still dwells in the basement of the North Division standings, and have been there most of the season. However, the Walleye were able to knock off the Kalamazoo wings on Sunday afternoon 4-1 to snap a three game losing streak and pull within just two points of third place. They're now only 6 points behind Cincinnati. Evan Rankin leads Toledo's active players in scoring with 21 points (11 goals, 10 assists).
POSITIVITY, PASS IT ON: Team captain Barret Ehgoetz has found himself on the good side of the plus/minus rating quite frequently this season. He has earned a +1 mark or better in 15 games. Not surprisingly, he is tied for second on the team in points (21) as well.
SPEAKING OF EHGOETZ: The Cyclones Captain has hit another franchise milestone. With his game tonight, the Kincardine, Ontario native will have played in 300 career-games as a member of the Cyclones. While it leads this franchise, it also gives Ehgoetz sole possession of fifth place on the All-Time Cyclones list (dating back to the early 1990's) - passing Eric Dandenault.
ARMOR "PIERCE"ING BULLET: Since being returned from Rochester, the Cyclones forward has been an offensive force - registering points in all three games, including a multi-point game on Sunday at Wheeling.
