Cyclones Finalize Trade with Bakersfield, Acquire Alain Goulet
March 1, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have acquired defenseman Alain Goulet (Al-AIN, Goo-LAY) from the Bakersfield Condors. This move completes the trade executed on January 12, 2012 when Cincinnati dealt Evan Trupp and Ryan Annesley.
Goulet, a third-year rear guard, joins the Cyclones after skating in 46 games with the Bakersfield Condors this season. During his time out west, he amassed 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists), which led all Condors defensemen. Last year, he split time with the Providence Bruins (AHL) and Reading Royals (ECHL), combining for 26 points (6 goals, 20 assists) in 59 games. He made his professional debut in 2009-10 with Providence, where he posted 26 tallies in 87 contests. Prior to turning pro, the five-foot-eleven Price Edward Island native logged ice time in the CCHA, OPJHL, and QMJHL - earning 96 points in 129 games as an amateur.
Goulet is expected to make his Cincinnati debut on Saturday night against Wheeling.
The Cyclones return to U.S. Bank Arena TONIGHT as they host the Chicago Express at 7:30pm. It will be the first-ever Cross River Face-Off with students from Northern Kentucky and University of Cincinnati encouraged to show who has more school spirit by dressing in their team's colors.
