Game Preview: Express at Cincinnati Tonight
March 1, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Chicago Express News Release
Preview: Chicago Express (26-21-6-3, 61pts) at Cincinnati (26-21-1-7, 60pts)
When: Puck drops at 6:35 pm
Where: U.S. Bank Arena, Cincinnati, OH
Tonight's Matchup:
The Express are coming off an important comeback win over the Toledo Walleye last night, scoring three times in the final 8:26 of third period to take down Toledo by the final 3-2 score. The win boosted Chicago over Cincinnati in the standings (although the Cyclones have played one fewer game), and combined with Florida's shootout loss moved the Express into a tie for seventh in the Eastern Conference with the Everblades. The Cyclones come into tonight's game on a bit of a losing skid, as they have lost two straight games and are 4-5-0-1 in their last ten games. Chicago has put together a five game unbeaten streak, including two comeback wins over Kalamazoo and Toledo.
Express Notes:
The Express will be without their two leading scorers for the third straight game, as LW Chad Painchaud and RW Tyler Donati are both on the IR... F Ryley Grantham was issued his first fighting major since joining the Express last night. He also had an assist in the game... D Taylor Ellington made his Chicago Express debut last night... LW Maxime Gratchev has scored in the final minute in two of Chicago's last three games. He scored the game winning goal with 42 seconds left last night, and forced an eventual shootout on Saturday against Florida by striking with 53 seconds left in the game... The Express finished February with a five game unbeaten streak, and overall record of 7-4-2.
Recent Transactions:
D Brett Motherwell was placed on the 3-IR on Tuesday... RW Tyler Donati was transferred to the 3-IR on Tuesday... LW Chad Painchaud was transferred to the 21-day IR on Tuesday... D Taylor Ellington was assigned to Chicago by Columbus on Tuesday... G Tom Schaul was released as an Emergency Backup Goaltender on Sunday.
