
Cyclones Drop Heartbreaker to Chiefs

The Cyclones dropped a heartbreaker 3-2 to the Johnstown Chiefs on Saturday night at U.S. Bank Arena. The Cyclones blew two separate one goal leads in the third as they fell to 24-40-3 on the season.
Phil Lewandowski got the Cyclones on the board when he converted a goal mouth scramble into a power-play goal at the 18:10 mark of the first. Lewandowski's goal was his 16th of the year and fourth in eight games as a Cyclones. The Cyclones held the 1-0 lead through the second period and the first half of the third.
The Chiefs evened the game when Jason Noterman scored on the power play with 8:57 left in the third. Noterman's 22nd goal of the year came at the tail end of a Johnstown power play.
A deflated Cyclones team fell back on the terrific netminding of Tyler Masters. Masters stopped 34 on the evening including 12 in the third period. Many of the Chiefs shots came on fantastic scoring opportunities.
Dean Stork would spark the Cyclones back to life when he scored his second goal of the season with just 4:03 left in the game. Malcolm MacMillan feed the Cyclones captain in front and Stork shoveled the puck past Johnstown's David Currie.
The Cyclones entered the final two minutes of the game with a 2-1 lead before Johnstown scored twice before the end of regulation to steal the victory. Dominic Forget scored his 22nd of the season to tie the game with 1:59 left. Larry Courville scored the game winner for the Chiefs 37 seconds later.
The Cyclones head to Toledo for an afternoon showdown with the Storm on Sunday. The game starts at 3:00 p.m. with a 2:50 p.m. pre-game show on sportsjuice.com. The game marks the final meeting of the year between the in-state rivals.
The Cyclones are back at U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday for a showdown with the Peoria Rivermen. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations including by phone (513-562-4949), on-line (www.ticketmaster.com) or at U.S. Bank Arena box office.
