Beaumont, TX (March 20, 2004) – The Mississippi Sea Wolves weathered a Wildcatters rally and scored two late goals to defeat Texas 5-3 in Game 13 of the Nextel Cup. Anthony Battaglia opened up the scoring for the Sea Wolves at the 5:59 mark of the first period as he tallied his 20th goal of the season. Six minutes later, Kerry Ellis-Toddington doubled Mississippi's lead with a power-play goal. Brent Gauvreau would tack on one more goal in the period to give the Sea Wolves a 3-0 lead after twenty minutes of play.

Texas had some fire in their skates in the second period as they out-shot the Sea Wolves 18-2 in the middle stanza, scoring twice in the process. Lukas Smital scored the Wildcatters first goal of the night at the 8:31 mark of the second period as he stood alone backdoor and took a pass from Martin Masa to record his 16th goal of the season. The Wildcatters kept the pressure on Mississippi in the third period as John Snowden tied the game at three with a power play goal at the 13:48 mark of the final period. But Mississippi came right back with two goals in a span of 17 seconds to halt any chance of a comeback.
