Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. – The Fresno Falcons and their fans raised $21,350 for the United Way when the team auctioned off the St. Patrick's Day jerseys they wore during a 4-3 victory against the Long Beach Ice Dogs on Wednesday. The amount brings the grand total of the team's four specialty jersey auctions this season to $67,075 for the Fresno Jr. Falcons, Community Food Bank, California Transplant Donor Network and United Way.

The $21,350 raised on St. Patrick's Day set a new fund-raising record for a Falcons game-worn jersey auction, events which the organization began during the 2000-01 season, besting the previous record of $20,850 raised for the Fallen Heroes Fund several weeks following 9/11.

All-star defenseman Kevin Truelson's #42 jersey elicited the highest bid on Wednesday, going for $3,025. A total of six other jerseys also brought in at least $1,000, including those of #40 Tapio Sammalkangas ($1,800), #17 Michael Kiesman ($1,625), #5 Neil Wilkinson ($1,200), #25 Jason Weaver ($1,025), #31 Terry Friesen ($1,000) and #3 Nathan Horne ($1,000).

The Falcons and the San Diego Gulls square off tonight at 7 p.m. at Save Mart Center in the second game of a home-and-home that began last night with a 3-1 Gulls victory at the San Diego Sports Arena. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Falcons hockey stick, courtesy of Shop & Go Convenience Stores and Flouresco Lighting.

Tickets to the game tonight can be purchased directly at Save Mart Center's Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets, which include select Save Mart Supermarkets, Tower Records, Wherehouse Music and Ritmo Latino locations, charged by phone at 485-TIXS or bought online by clicking the Ticketmaster icon throughout www.fresnofalcons.com.
