Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
TRENTON, New Jersey - Mark Van Guilder's goal 1:04 into overtime gave the Cincinnati Cyclones a 3-2 win over Trenton on Sunday afternoon. The win runs the Cyclones winning streak to four games.
Trenton scored the only goal of the first period when Dan Eves snapped a shot from the faceoff circle just to the right of Martin Houle for his first score of the season. Tyler Burton had the assist for the Devils, who outshot Cincinnati, 8-7.
Following a scoreless second period, Trenton notched the lone goal of the middle frame-as Trevor Kell scored a shorthanded goal 6:01 into the final frame.
Cincinnati scored a pair of goals to tie the game and force the extra session. Olivier Latendresse scored his ECHL-leading 14th goal at 8:09, firing a shot from the right goal post past Jason Smith. Thomas Beauregard and Barret Ehgoetz had the assists on the score. At 14:18, Ehgoetz netted his fifth of the season, re-directing a shot from the center point by Conrad Martin. Latendresse handed out the other assist and Cincinnati had rallied to tie the game at 2-2.
In overtime, Cincinnati cleared the puck and Van Guilder collected his fourth goal of the season from the high slot past the outstretched glove of Smith to give the Cyclones the win. Matt Macdonald and Martin handed out the assists. Martin Houle stopped 21 shots to take the victory-his fourth in five decisions with Cincinnati.
It was the first time since March 22 (at Wheeling) that the Cyclones rallied from a two goal deficit to win a hockey game.
The Cyclones are 9-7-3 on the season, while Trenton is 5-13-2. The Cyclones open a seven game home stand on Wednesday (December 3) against the Dayton Bombers.
