
Reign Win 3-2 Over Aces

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings and the AHL Manchester Monarchs, defeated the Alaska Aces, 3-2, in front of 4,260 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Center Dusty Collins and right wing Geoff Walker each scored in the win for the Reign.
In the first match-up between the Reign (10-6-1-1) and the Aces (12-5-0-1) in club history, the Reign took the early lead at 3:29 in the first off a shot from center Dusty Collins. Collins fired the puck past Alaska goaltender Jean-Phillipe Lamoureux to put the Reign up 1-0, registering his fourth goal of the season, with left wing Ryan MacGregor picking up his fourth assist of the year with the helper.
The Reign increased their lead to two when right wing Geoff Walker lit the lamp less than three minutes into the second period, picking up his first goal of the night and his fifth goal of the year. Center Dusty Collins and left wing Ryan MacGregor registered the assists on the play, with Collins picking up his seventh assist on the season and Macgregor registering his second assist of the night. Goeff Walker picked up his second goal of the night at 10:26 in the second period, off of a penalty shot awarded to Walker after he was hooked in front of the Aces net. Walker netted the puck over Lamoureux's shoulder to put the Reign ahead, 3-0, over the Aces. Alaska left wing Lance Galbraith put the Aces on the board with six seconds remaining in the second period, as he slipped the puck past Reign netminder John Murray to end the second with the Reign leading the match, 3-1.
Late in the third period, Alaska found the net to pull within one of the Reign. Aces right wing Colin Hemingway made the score, 3-2, when he netted a goal on a power play at the 17:50 mark. Alaska pulled Lamoureux from net with 1:34 left in the match to give the Aces an extra skater on the attack, but couldn't find the net as the the Reign held off the Aces in the final minutes of the match. The Reign went on to win the game with a final score Reign, 3, Alaska, 2.
Notes:
Geoff Walker notched a +3 rating in the match, marking the highest plus/minus rating for a Reign player this season. He surpassed the previously held record of +2.
