Cutters Streak Snapped in Home Loss

The Williamsport Crosscutters had their four-game winning streak snapped Sunday evening in a 5-1 loss to the Jamestown Jammers at Historic Bowman Field.

The Jammers broke a scoreless tie in the top of the second, picking up two runs on three hits against Cutters starter Mike Nesseth. Viosergy Rosa's RBI double and Pedro Mendoza's RBI groundout made it 2-0 in the frame.

Williamsport answered in the bottom of the inning on a two-out RBI single by Cody Asche to make it 2-1.

That score would hold until the top of the eighth inning, when the Jammers racked up three runs on four hits to make it a 5-1 game. Austin Barnes and Brian McConkey ripped RBI singles off Gabriel Arias to lead the charge.

Cutters starter Mike Nesseth threw five innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out two and earning the tough-luck loss. Jammers starter Josh Hodges threw eight innings of one-run ball to pick up his league-leading seventh win of the year.
