August 2, 2011 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Williamsport Crosscutters racked up seven runs on 11 hits Tuesday night to defeat the Brooklyn Cyclones 7-2 at MCU Park.

The Cutters made it 1-0 in the first inning, as Peter Lavin doubled to lead it off and later scored on a throwing error by Cyclones starter Randy Fontanez. They added two more runs in the top of the fourth on a two-run single by Kenny Miramontes to increase the lead to 3-0.

Williamsport padded its lead in the top of the fifth, as Aaron Altherr drilled a two-run homer to deep left field to increase the advantage to 5-0. Cody Asche's two-out, two-run double in the seventh then made it a 7-0 game.

Brooklyn finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth off Colton Murray, using three hits and a Cutters throwing error to plate two runners and trim the deficit to 7-2.

Bryan Morgado made his first professional start in the game, finishing with four scoreless innings while striking out five. Perci Garner made his second appearance of the year and earned his first pro win with two shutout innings of relief.

These two teams will play at 12:00pm Wednesday and once more at 7:05pm Thursday before the Cutters head to Batavia for two matchups. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com
