Norwich Sea Unicorns News Release

AUBURN, NY - The Connecticut Tigers were subject to four Auburn Doubleday's home runs and fell 13-3 on Tuesday night at Falcon Park.

Auburn struck early and often to take a big lead. They pounced on Connecticut starter Wilsen Palacios for three runs in the first inning and two more in the second to take a 5-0 lead.

The Tigers would put a run on the board for the first time of the night with a Tyler Collins solo home run in the fourth inning, his fourth homer of the year, in just his twelfth game with the team.

However, Auburn would get that run back in the bottom of the fourth on a Jeremy Mayo solo shot, his second homer of the night. The Doubledays would add four runs in the fifth, a run in the seventh and two more in the eighth to blow the game open.

Aside from the two homers from Mayo, Auburn also got two-run homers from Angelberth Montilla and Matt Skole.

The lone bright spots for the Tigers were Collins, who went 2-for-4 with the homer, and Jeff Holm, who went 2-for-3 with a two-run double.

Palacios fell to 2-3 on the year for Connecticut, while Chad Jenkins earned the win and improved to 2-0 for Auburn.

The Tigers will try to even up the three-game series with the Auburn Doubledays tomorrow evening. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM.
