Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters suffered their third consecutive loss Wednesday night coming up short 5-3 against Hudson Valley after leading on two separate occasions. The Cutters are still searching for their first win this season against a team from the McNamara Division going 0-5.
The Cutters jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning against Hudson Valley starter Roel Ramirez with an RBI single from Austin Bossart. Bossart extended his hitting streak to eight games as he plated Jose Pujols from second base. The lead would be short lived as the Renegades rallied for two runs against Cutters relief pitcher Kenny Koplove in the home half of the inning to take a 2-1 lead off a single and a sacrifice fly.
Williamsport starter Franklyn Kilome went three innings in his first start since July 3rd against Auburn. Kilome
gave up four hits but was able to keep the Renegades off the scoreboard while working in three strikeouts. The Cutters would use just two pitchers out of the bullpen as Koplove worked three innings allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four batters and walking one. Andrew Godail worked the final two innings of the game.
The Cutters battled back to tie the game 2-2 in the top of the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly from Mark Laird. Zach Coppola kicked off the inning with a single and would advance to second on an error by the pitcher then third on an error committed by the catcher. Brendon Hayden gave the Cutters a 3-2 lead with an RBI double, giving him three doubles in as many days. The Renegades would use the seventh inning to rally for a second consecutive night scoring a pair of runs against Godail to tie the game and then take a 4-3 lead. The Renegades added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning against Godail to take a 5-3 lead and hold on for the win.
