-SPIKES START ROAD SWING AGAINST IRONBIRDS: Tonight, the State College Spikes continue their 10th Season as they take on the Aberdeen IronBirds in the middle matchup of a three-game series at Ripken Stadium. The series also forms the first half of a six-game road trip for the Spikes, with a three-game set against Hudson Valley to follow. -LAST GAME: Ian McKinney was outstanding over seven scoreless innings, but the State College Spikes came out on the short end of a pitchers' duel, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Aberdeen IronBirds on Tuesday night at Ripken Stadium. McKinney set down the first nine batters in order, and faced the minimum over his first four innings of work. The left-hander gave up just two hits, three walks and a hit batsman on the night while striking out five batters. However, an eighth-inning sacrifice fly by Aberdeen's Kirvin Moesquit would proved to be the difference in the game and score the only run. The Spikes were held to just four hits on the night, but threatened on multiple occasions. State College left nine runners on base, including the bases loaded in the fourth. Ricardo Andujar led off the bottom of the eighth with a single for Aberdeen, and after Cedric Mullins walked, the runners moved to second and third on a passed ball to set up Moesquit's sacrifice fly.

Strader, the 12th-round draft choice of the Orioles out of Louisville this year, has not allowed a run over his first five professional innings, recording five strikeouts while allowing two hits and three walks. The southpaw made 20 relief appeaances in his last college season for Louisville, going 1-0 with a 1.27 ERA and 21 strikeouts over 21 1/3 innings.
