Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Williamsport Crosscutters moved into second place in the Pinckney Division Saturday night with a resounding 8-2 victory over Aberdeen in a rain-shortened game.

After a 93-minute rain delay before the game, the Cutters wasted no time going to work off IronBirds starter Josh Hobgood. They sent nine men to the plate in the first, collecting four runs on two hits, an error, three walks, a hit-by-pitch, and a wild pitch. Aberdeen committed two more errors in the second, helping the Cutters extend the lead to 6-0. Pete Lavin walked and scored his second run of the game as part of the inning.

The IronBirds finally got on the board in the fifth, as Connor Narron's two-out, two-run single cut Williamsport's lead to 6-2. The Cutters answered with a run in the top of the sixth, as Kyrell Hudson led off with a double and scored three batters later on a double by Harold Martinez. Hudson's two-out RBI double in the seventh brought home Taylor Black to make it an 8-2 ballgame.

Heavy rain returned in the top of the eighth inning, suspending play and officially ending the game at 11:36pm.

With the win, the Cutters now trail first-place Auburn by just half a game. Aberdeen and Williamsport match up once more on Sunday at 5:35pm before a two-game All-Star Break. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com
