JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - Ryan Goetz pounded out four hits, and the Jamestown Jammers held off a late comeback attempt by the Lowell Spinners to win, 8-6, Saturday night at Diethrick Park.

After falling behind early, the Spinners battled back to cut into the deficit; however, Jamestown had an answer each time as they scored in six consecutive innings to prevent Lowell from a second rally in as many nights. The Jammers (29-27) are now four games out in the divisional race.

Goetz had a pair of singles and triples, scored twice and drove in two runs to lead the offense. Jobduan Morales added three hits with a double, two RBI and two runs, while Pedro Mendoza delivered a single and double. Brian McConkey chipped in with a solo homer.

Jamestown got on the board in the third inning. After a Marquise Cooper walk, Goetz tripled to right to score Jamestown's first run before being stranded 90 feet away.

The Jammers put up another run in the fourth after capitalizing on a pair of Lowell miscues. Morales walked then moved to third on a passed ball and wild pitch before Adams plated him with a sacrifice fly to center.

In the top of the fifth, Lowell responded when Travis Shaw's slide kicked the ball out of the glove of catcher Jobduan Morales to cut the advantage in half.

Unlike last night when the Jammers didn't have an answer, Jamestown struck for three runs in the bottom of the frame. Mendoza started the inning with a double before Goetz laced another triple down the line in right. Morales plated Goetz with a single then he scored when third baseman Matt Gedman's throw sailed into the first-base bleachers.

The Spinners loaded the bases in the sixth, and Shaw scored two runs on a bouncer to right, but Jamestown responded again when Mendoza singled to right in the home half, and Brian McConkey led off the seventh with a solo shot to right.

Lowell threatened to tie the game again in the eighth. After loading up the bases again, Seth Schwindenhammer ripped a three-run double to left; however, Frankie Reed escaped the jam without further damage to keep the Jamestown lead.
