July 6, 2015 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters dropped their third consecutive game against the Brooklyn Cyclones on Monday night in extra innings 2-1. The Crosscutters will look to snap their three game losing streak Wednesday night as they open up at six game home-stand at Susquehanna Bank Park.
The Cutters would get three scoreless innings from Tyler Gilbert in his first professional start. Gilbert allowed just one hit on the night, which came in the third inning. Gilbert struck out four batters while showing plenty of confidence on the mound. Brooklyn would break the scoreless tie in the sixth inning after picking up a leadoff single. With Tucker Tharp batting he would hit a ground ball to Jan Hernandez that would end up in the Brooklyn dugout this allowing the runner to score from second base.
Josh Tobias kicked the Cutters seventh inning off with a bang picking up a triple after driving a ball into deep center field. Austin Bossart would come through for the Cutters two batters later. Bossart delivered a well hit ball to left field that would be caught deep enough to allow Tobias to tag and score from third base. With the game tied 1-1 both teams would strand runners in each of the eighth and ninth innings.
Williamsport had a chance to take their first lead of the game in the top of the tenth inning. Jesus Posso lead off the inning with a single and would be replaced by William Cuicas to pinch run. Bossart would then reach base after the Cyclones shortstop dropped what appeared to be the second out of the inning. The Cyclones wouldn't let the error come back to hurt them by getting the final two outs of the inning. Brookyln picked up the decisive second run of the game in the bottom half of the inning as Anthony Sequeira fielded a ground ball hit back to him and had his throw to third base go down the left field line allowing the winning run to score.
