Altoona Curve News Release

ALTOONA, PA - For seven innings the Altoona Curve looked as if they were ready to snap their two game losing streak. Erie, however, had other plans. The SeaWolves scored seven runs in the final two innings to rally past Altoona 7-3 in the series finale at Blair County Ballpark.

The Curve got out to an early lead for the first time in its last seven games after Brad Corley singled up the middle to plate leadoff man Angel Gonzalez. Altoona kept the offense going in the second with catcher Hector Gimenez doubling to start the inning and then scoring on a fielder's choice.

Jonel Pacheco doubled home Corley in the sixth to push the Curve lead to 3-0.

Erie would rally in the eighth when centerfielder Diek Scram doubled into the left field corner to score two runs to trim the Curve lead to 3-2. Scram would score one batter later as Brennan Boesch singled up the middle to tie the ballgame.

In the top of the ninth Erie loaded the bases after two throwing errors on sacrifice bunt attempts. The SeaWolves took their first lead on a sacrifice fly. After a walk to load the bases Scott Sizemore crushed a bases clearing double to break the game open and put Erie up 7-3.

Curve starter Brad Lincoln had an excellent outing going tossing five shutout innings allowing only three hits and striking out a Curve best eight batters.

Corley continued his offensive surge going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. For the series Corley batted .500 (6 - 12) driving in three runs with two doubles and a home run.

Altoona (6-17) hopes to end its three game skid Monday night when the Akron Aeros come to Blair County Ballpark for a four game series. Righty Jared Hughes (0-3, 2.35) gets the start for Altoona and RHP Hector Rondon (4-0, 1.17) will be on the hill for Akron.

First pitch is scheduled 6:35 p.m. with radio coverage starting at 6:05 on flagship station ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.

Great seats for Monday's 6:35 p.m. game against Akron are still on sale and can be obtained by calling 877-99-CURVE to speak to a Curve ticketing associate, online at AltoonaCurve.com or in person at the Blair County Ballpark press box.
