Curry Extends Hit Streak in Hoppers 3-1 Loss

Greensboro, N.C. - Another tough day at the plate led to Greensboro's 3-1 loss Wednesday as the Hoppers suffered their first back-to-back losses of the season, both coming against Kannapolis at NewBridge Bank Park.

Colby Miller recorded his first quality start in four attempts and turned in one of Greensboro's best starting performances of the season despite being credited with his fourth loss of the season.

Miller gave up just four hits in 7.0 innings; the most innings pitched in a game by a Hoppers starter this season, and struck out four batters while allowing just two runs to the Intimidators.

But the four hits surrendered by Miller were more than the Grasshoppers could muster up altogether. Greensboro collected just three hits as a team with Ryan Curry extended his current hitting streak to six games and Mike Stanton getting his first hit in five games after going 0-for-15 in his last 15 at-bats.

Ryan Anetsberger recorded Greensboro's other hit in the game.

Kannapolis recorded single runs in the second and third innings to take a 2-0 lead, but the Hoppers responded with a fifth-inning run to pull within one. The Intimidators tacked on a ninth inning insurance run and won the game 3-1 despite Greensboro leaving the bases loaded in the seventh inning and 11 total runners on base during the game.

Along with the absence of hits, Greensboro struggled by striking out eight times in the contest and has now been struck out 35 times in their least three games.

Greensboro continues its six-game homestand Thursday as the Hoppers welcome Hagerstown to NewBridge Bank Park for a four-game set.
