Cumberland Returns From DL

Fort Wayne, IN - Infielder Drew Cumberland will return to action for the Fort Wayne Wizards today and infielder Ray Stokes has released from the San Diego Padres organization, team officials announced.

Cumberland was placed on the disabled list on May 27 following the Wizards series against the Great Lakes Loons, the Midwest League affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers during the Memorial Day Weekend.

He is expected to be in action tonight when the Wizards take on the Dayton Dragons, the Midwest League affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds in a doubleheader, with game one starting at 5:00 PM. The second game will follow after a 20-30 minute break, with both games being seven innings in length.

Cumberland is currently hitting .247 with six doubles, one home run, 13 runs batted in and a team-best 12 stolen bases.

Stokes was promoted to the Wizards from extended spring training on May 23. In six games, he hit .357 with two runs batted in.
