Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

BURLINGTON, IA - Eduardo Paulino pitched six scoreless innings and the Burlington Bees jumped to a big early lead in a 6-2 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Tuesday night at Community Field. Nick Van Stratten and Kyle Martin each drove in a pair of runs to pace the Burlington offense. The loss dropped the Rattlers to 10-20 in 30 road games this season.

Van Stratten gave the Bees (27-38) an early lead two batters into the game with a solo home run to left-center off Wisconsin starting pitcher Donnie Hume. Later in the first inning, Martin drove in a pair of runs with a triple to right-center.

Burlington kept the pressure on with two more runs off Hume in the second inning. Juan Rivera doubled to start the inning, moved to third on a grounder, and scored when he beat a throw home on a grounder to second. Van Stratten doubled to left to drive in another run and the Bees were up 5-0.

Hume did not retire either batter he faced in the third inning and was replaced by reliever Travis Mortimore. The Rattler lefty pitched four scoreless innings out of the bullpen, but the Rattler bats could not solve Paulino. They collected four hits in six innings, but did not score against the right-hander. Paulino struck out six, hit a batter, and walked one.

Wisconsin (27-32) would break through against the Burlington bullpen. Burke Baldwin gave up a lead off single to Alex Liddi in the top of the seventh. One out later Blake Ochoa extended his hitting streak to nine games with a two-run homer to left.

But, in the bottom of the seventh, Burlington scored a run on a two-out RBI double by Clint Robinson for a 6-2 lead. That was more than enough for Burlington's second straight win.

Game three of the series is scheduled for Wednesday night. Juan Ramirez (3-4, 3.69) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Matt Mitchell (3-5, 4.05) is set to go for the Bees. Game time is 6:30pm.
