Bees Use Six Extra Base Hits To Beat Wisconsin

Burlington, IA (June 10, 2008) - The Burlington Bees picked up their second win in a row Tuesday night as they defeated Wisconsin 6-2 at Community Field. Nick Van Stratten hit his first homerun of the season while Eduardo Paulino pitched six scoreless innings to win his third game of the season.

For the second night in a row, the Bees scored multiple runs in the first inning. With one out, Van Stratten hit his first homerun of the season to give the Bees a 1-0 lead. Mike Moustakas and Jason Taylor both reached base in the inning and then scored on a Kyle Martin triple.

The Bees added two more runs in the second inning. Juan Rivera led the inning off with a double and then scored when Adrian Ortiz reached on a Fielder's Choice. Ortiz then scored on a Van Stratten double and the Bees led 5-0 after two innings.

The Timber Rattlers did score two runs in the seventh via a Blake Ochoa two-run homerun. The Bees answered back in the bottom of the inning with one run. Van Stratten led the inning off with a walk, stole second and then scored on a Clint Robinson double.

Eduardo Paulino got the start for the Bees and was very good. He pitched six innings and allowed no runs on four hits with six strikeouts and one walk. He got the win to move to 3-3 on the season. Henry Arias pitched the ninth inning and did not allow a hit.

Van Stratten ended the game 2-3 with two runs and two RBI. Robinson also had two hits while Martin had two RBI.

The Bees and Wisconsin continue the series Wednesday night at Community Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 with Eduardo Paulino taking the mound for the Bees. The game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com.
