Cullity returned to Idaho, Taylor acquired from Trenton
January 25, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (1/25/13) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Friday morning that defenseman Patrick Cullity has been reassigned to the Idaho Steelheads by the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
Ralph also announced that forward Justin Taylor has been acquired from the Trenton Titans as part of the trade that sent Jacob Cepis to Trenton in early December.
Both players are expected to be in the lineup Friday night when Idaho plays its first-ever game at the North Charleston Coliseum against the South Carolina Stingrays.
Cullity has appeared in 23 games with the Idaho Steelheads, putting up five points. The steady blue-liner has also appeared in six games in two separate stints with Springfield of the AHL, who signed him to an AHL-level contract in December. Cullity has played in 173 professional games, 113 at the ECHL level and 60 at the AHL level. The American Hockey League is the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America.
Taylor joins the Steelheads from Trenton, where he had seven points (three goals, four assists) and 56 penalty minutes in 19 games. The 23-year-old Taylor has two 20-goal seasons on his professional resume and also led the 2010-11 Kalamazoo Wings in playoff goals (9), when they won the ECHL's Eastern Conference and reached the Kelly Cup finals. He appeared in 15 games at the AHL level with Bridgeport in 2009-10 after concluding his major-junior career with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League.
The Steelheads are on the road this weekend, playing at South Carolina (Friday) and Gwinnett (Saturday/Sunday). The team returns home on Wednesday, February 6, to take on the Utah Grizzlies at CenturyLink Arena in Boise.
