TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: With the All-Star Break now behind them, the Cyclones will begin their push to the Kelly Cup Playoffs tonight as they host the Evansville IceMen to kick off another three-game weekend. Cincinnati holds a 4-3 record against their Indiana rivals this season, however, the IceMen have taken two of the last three meetings. Including tonight, there are six more games between the two clubs in the regular year.
TONIGHT'S PROMOTION: President Obama Bobblehead Night - The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a Cyclones Bobblehead of U.S. President Barack Obama!
SCOUTING THE ICEMEN: Rich Kromm's club has been hot and cold over the last few weeks, going 5-4-1 in their last ten games and remain 16 points back of Cincinnati in the North Division standings. Josh Beaulieu and Todd Robinson have been atop the IceMen's scoring list all season long. In 43 games, Beaulieu has collected 37 points (17 goals, 10 assists) but has posted a dismal -10 plus/minus rating. Robinson, meanwhile, ranks second among active ECHL players with 34 assists - however, is just a futile in the plus/minus category; he's registered a -22 through 35 games. Paul Karpowich has been the goaltender of record in five straight contests for Evansville and has amassed a 7-9-1-1 record overall with a 3.04 goals-against average. Against the Cyclones this season, Karpowich has earned a 1-2 mark with a 2.73 GAA.
Pelly Returns: After spending the last week in the AHL, Cyclones forward Mike Pelech has returned to the Queen City. Despite missing the last four Cincinnati games, he still ranks second on the team in scoring with 31 points (8 goals, 23 assists). The Clones are 13-4-2 when he finds the score sheet.
A Half to Remember: As the Cyclones reached the All-Star Break, they have accumulated one of their best first half records in club history. Their 24 wins are the most at the All-Star Break since the 2009-10 season when they had a 24-14-1 mark...and the second most since the Cyclones returned to ECHL play in 2006.
