Connecticut Whale News Release

Hartford, October 23, 2003 - The new CT Sled Hockey "Chariots of Hope - Wolf Pack" team will be hitting the ice for the first time this Sunday evening, October 26th. The Hartford Wolf Pack Community Foundation has provided assistance to the team in the form of a $6,400 donation to purchase 16 sleds for the program.

The Chariots of Hope - Wolf Pack team has received a donation of permanent ice time from the Westminster School, 995 Hopmeadow St. in Simsbury (860-408-3000). They will be working out at Westminster most Sundays (starting this Sunday, the 26th) at 5:00 PM.

Sled hockey is played while sitting on a specially-designed sled and propelling oneself and handling the puck with a pair of short sticks. While participation is not limited to disabled athletes, sled hockey allows those with mobility restrictions to experience all of the fun, exercise and competition that the game of hockey has to offer. CT Sled Hockey is actively soliciting players for the Chariots of Hope - Wolf Pack team. For more information, contact Pat Carney (860-844-8646, tmspat@cox.net) or Ken Messier (860-249-HOPE, kmes48@aol.com).

The Wolf Pack return to action tomorrow night, Friday, October 24th in Bridgeport (7:35 faceoff), and will be back on home ice this weekend for a pair of games. The Manchester Monarchs visit the Hartford Civic Center on Saturday evening (7:05) and the Pack entertain the Lowell Lock Monsters on Sunday at 4:05 PM.
