Crackers' 10th Birthday This Sunday

PORTLAND, ME - He has been a loyal mascot to the Portland Pirates throughout their history. On Sunday, October 26th, the Pirates will honor Crackers the parrot with a 10th Birthday Celebration presented by Hannaford Supermarkets. The festivities will occur throughout the Pirates' game against the St. John's Maple Leafs at 4:05 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to bring a gift for Crackers. He'll then donate those gifts to partner agencies of the United Way of Greater Portland. Fans can sign a birthday card for Crackers that will be given to him during an on-ice ceremony in the first intermission. At that time, Crackers will be presented with a giant birthday cake, and everyone in attendance can join in to sing "Happy Birthday" to their favorite parrot.

It shouldn't be difficult for the fans to make noise that day. As a gift to them, the first 5,000 fans will receive "ThunderStix" courtesy of Hannaford Supermarkets. At the end of the day, fans will receive a piece of Crackers birthday cake.

The Pirates return to action on Friday night, October 24th, when they host the Maple Leafs at 7:05 p.m. They'll be in Worcester to face the IceCats on Saturday night before returning home for the 4:05 face-off with the Leafs on Sunday. Tickets for both home games are on sale all week at the Cumberland County Civic Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets.
