Florence Y'alls News Release
Avon, OH-The Lake Erie Crushers(43-34)defeated the Florence Freedom(41-36) 5-3 on a rainy Saturday night at All Pro Freight Stadium to even their series at a game apiece. The game was delayed twenty nine minutes due to rain in the 7th inning.
The Freedom were trailing 3-1 going into the 8th inning and had only two hits before they put a rally together. Peter Fatse led off with a double down the right field line. Two batters later Drew Rundle came through with an RBI single cutting the Crushers lead to 3-2. Jim Jacquot then singled advancing Rundle to third base. John Malloy then hit a SAC fly to left to tie the game at 3-3.
The Crushers came right back in their 8th as Daniel Bowman opened up the inning with a single off a 3-2 pitch from Brad Allen. Bowman then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Robby Kuzdale. With one out, and a runner at second in a tie game, Wally Correa hit a grounder to third. Fatse fielded it cleanly, however his throw was too high at first base which enabled Bowman to score and advance Correa to second on the throwing error. Brian Erie then singled back up the middle as the Crushers took a 5-3 lead.
Jonathan Kountis improved to 4-2 as he earned the win out of the bullpen as Allen(0-1) suffered his first defeat since joining the Freedom.
The Freedom and Crushers will play the rubber match of their three game series Sunday night. RHP Alec Lewis(4-7,4.74) will start for Florence, while LHP Paul Fagan(7-5, 3.39) will go for the Crushers. The game can be heard starting at 4:50 on Real Talk 1160 AM and realtalk1160.com.
