
Windy City Wins Series Finale against Evansville

(CRESTWOOD, ILLINOIS) - The Windy City Thunderbolts beat the Evansville Otters 10-1 on Sunday night at Standard Bank Stadium.
Pitcher Matt Zielinski started for the Otters but Windy City rallied to take a first-inning lead against the left-hander. Infielders Mike Torres and Chris Wade both walked to begin the inning and scored on a two-run double from C.J. Gillman.
After Windy City added a run in the second, Evansville came back for a run in the third. After a one-out triple from Runey Davis, infielder Taylor Black lined a ball towards the left side of the infield that plated the first Otters run.
Down 3-1, Evansville rallied again in the fourth inning. DeAngelo Mack, Dan Killian, and Steve Marino all reached on one out singles but Windy City pitcher Tyson Corley retired the next two batters to end the inning.
Windy City added to their lead with a two-run home run from Ryan Cuneo in the sixth inning and held on in the end for the 10-1 win.
The Thunderbolts are now 46-31 this season as the Otters are 36-42.
Corley (4-6) earns the victory for Windy City, allowing just one ru in 5.0 innings. Zielinski (6-6) takes the loss, yielding five runs in 5.2 innings.
Mack had three hits in the loss for Evansville. Black also extended his hitting streak to nine games with a pair of hits.
Evansville is off on Monday but will begin a three-game series at Southern Illinois on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CDT on August 14 at Rent One Park. Right-hander Bryce Morrow (6-6, 4.09 ERA) will start for the Otters as the Miners counter with lefty Shawn Gilblair (9-4, 3.49 ERA).
