Syracuse Crunch News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - After giving up an early goal, the Syracuse Crunch scored three unanswered to rally past the Laval Rocket, 4-2, tonight at Place Bell.
The win advances the Crunch to 38-17-4-2 on the season and 4-1-0-0 in the six-game season series against the Rocket.
Goaltender Eddie Pasquale earned his third consecutive win with 30 saves in net for the Crunch. Michael McNiven stopped 17-of-20 in net for the Rocket. Syracuse went 1-for-3 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
The Rocket opened scoring on the power play just 2:39 into the game when Xavier Ouellet snuck the puck under the crossbar with a long shot from the right point.
The Crunch evened the score with 5:32 remaining in the first period. Andy Andreoff skated the puck into the zone and centered a feed for Cal Foote to one-time from the slot.
Syracuse took the lead with a power-play goal late in the middle stanza. After Mitchell Stephens dug the puck out of a battle in the left corner, Ross Colton gained control below the goal line and fed Taylor Raddysh all alone in the bottom of the right circle.
The Crunch made it a two-goal lead 1:14 into the third period. Dumont's pass from the slot was broken and popped up for the captain to poke in out of midair.
With 1:17 remaining, the Rocket stole one back with McNiven on the bench for an extra attacker. Pasquale make the stop on the first two attempts from Alex Belzile and Jake Evans, but Lukas Vejdemo was finally able to sweep in a rebound.
Alex Barre-Boulet then hit the empty net with the help of Pasquale to secure the 4-2 win.
The Crunch return home to host the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday at 7 p.m.
