Syracuse Crunch News Release

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch opened scoring in the second period, but the Belleville Senators climbed back to steal the win, 2-1, in a shootout tonight at CAA Arena.

Cory Conacher scored the Crunch's only goal as the team moves to 42-19-4-3 on the season and 3-1-0-1 in the six-game season series against the Senators.

Goaltender Eddie Pasquale stopped 24-of-25 shots and 1-of-3 shootout attempts in net for the Crunch. Marcus Hogberg made 20 saves and turned aside 2-of-3 shootout attempts for the Senators. Syracuse was unable to convert on three power play opportunities, but went a perfect 7-for-7 on the penalty kill.

After a scoreless first period, the Crunch were first on the board 13:39 into the middle frame. Andy Andreoff gained control of the puck in the top of the left circle and fed it across the slot for Conacher to one-time home. Dennis Yan earned the secondary helper.

Halfway through the third period, Nick Paul evened the score from the slot with the help of Logan Brown and Erik Burgdoerfer to eventually force overtime.

The teams remained tied through the extra frame and went to a shootout to decide a victor. Brown and Conacher both lit the lamp in the first round before Adam Tambellini potted the game-winner in the third.

The Crunch return home to host the Providence Bruins on Friday at 7 p.m.

Single game tickets and packages for the 2018-19 season are on sale now and can be purchased in person at the Crunch office located inside the War Memorial Arena at 800 S.
