Syracuse Crunch News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch fell to the Belleville Senators, 4-1, tonight at CAA Arena.
The loss puts an end to the team's three-game winning streak and moves the Crunch to 20-19-4-1 on the season. The eight-game season series against the Senators is now tied, 3-3.
Crunch goaltender Max Lagace stopped 18-of-20 shots in his first game since returning from injury. Kevin Mandolese earned the win blocking 36-of-37 between the pipes for the Senators. Syracuse went 0-for-2 on the power play, while Belleville converted on their lone man-advantage.
Belleville was first on the board with a power-play goal 15 minutes into the game. Jake Lucchini's centering pass was broken up and rebounded back for him to send into the net from the bottom of the right circle.
Lucchini potted his second of the night just 1:46 into the middle frame to double the Senators lead. Andrew Agozzino sent a feed out from the end boards for Lucchini to one-time from the slot.
Cole Reinhardt scored an empty netter 15:28 into the third period to put Belleville up, 3-0, but Syracuse stole it back just 35 seconds later when P.C. Labrie skated down the right wing and beat Mandolese from a sharp angle.
The Crunch were unable to mount a comeback and Lucchini secured a Senators win when he hit the empty net to complete his hat trick.
The Crunch return home to host the Rochester Americans on Friday.
