Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Crunch fell to I-90 rivals the Rochester Americans 4-1 tonight at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.

The loss drops the Crunch's overall record to 22-25-4-5 and 12-16-2-2 away from the War Memorial Arena. The Crunch lead the eight-game season series against Rochester 4-1-0-0.

Crunch netminder Kristers Gudlevskis allowed four goals on 26 shots, while his Rochester counterpart Nathan Lieuwen stopped 28 of 29 shots faced. Syracuse failed to convert on five power-play chances and allowed one power-play goal on five Rochester man-advantage opportunities.

Rochester jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the opening frame. Johan Larsson opened the scoring with a wrist shot from the left circle with 11:29 to play in the first period. Rochester added a power-play goal when Jamie Tardif deflected a Phil Varone shot at the 14:41 mark. Left wing Tim Schaller rounded out the first period scoring with his fourth goal of the season with 2:09 to play.

The Amerks extended their lead to 4-0, adding one goal in the middle frame. Joel Armia scored his sixth goal of the season 14:05 into the period assisted by Colton Gillies and Chad Ruhwedel.

Syracuse got on the board 8:56 into the third period with Captain Mike Angelidis' 10th goal of the season. Vladislav Namestnikov flipped the puck on net from the high-slot and Angelidis was able to redirect it past Lieuwen to make it 4-1. Nikita Nesterov was credited with the secondary helper.

Syracuse will host Rochester at the War Memorial on Saturday, March 8 at 7 p.m.

CRUNCHABLES: Crunch defenseman Dan Milan made his AHL debut tonight...Forwards Dalton Smith and Jonathan Marchessault made their Syracuse Crunch debuts after being acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets by Tampa Bay on Wednesday...With an assist on Mike Angelidis' goal Nikita Nesterov picked up his first point since Feb. 7 at Springfield...Angelidis has at least one point in six of his last seven games...Kristers Gudlevskis made his first appearance for the Crunch since representing Latvia at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
