Crucial Bounce-Back Win in Charlotte FC's Return Home
May 7, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Charlotte FC News Release
CHARLOTTE - It was another Charlotte FC win in the club's return to Bank of America Stadium. They started their three home match stretch with a 1 - 0 win against Inter Miami.
Charlotte FC came out of the gates like their usual selves at home - on the front foot dictating the match. Miami spent the majority of the half defending barrage after barrage of CLTFC attacks.
The Crown was playing free-flowing football seemingly threatening with every possession. It seemed that the team did everything right but capitalize on the chances they created for themselves. They won a whopping seven corners but never came close to threatening the back of the net.
Miami did manage to create a few great scoring opportunities but once again goalkeeper Krisitijan Kahlina came up clutch for his team. Charlotte could have easily gone into the half up a goal or two but instead finished the half level with Miami.
The start of the second half was more of the same. CLTFC spent most of it in control, keeping the match on Miami's side. While the team held more of the possession, it started looking like they weren't going to be able to breakthrough at all.
That is until the 68th minute when substitutes Yordy Reyna and new signing Andre Shinyshiki linked up to score. Shinyashiki scored the winner in his debut for the club with an emphatic finish.
In the last 20 minutes, the match opened up as Miami pushed for an equalizing goal. Miami came close on a few occasions but individual heroics kept the clean sheet and the win for Charlotte FC.
4-3-3
CLTFC head Miguel RamÃÂrez had been known for the 433 system he'd used at all his previous teams. But a lack of wingers and injuries had forced him to run a two-striker formation which he had previously rarely done in his career.
With recent additions to the team, we finally got to see it in action from the start against Miami. In the 433, the team was perhaps the most threatening and controlling they've been all season. The extra width helped the team be more dynamic and get both their midfielders and wingers into threatening positions.
Creating chances has been a season-long struggle for CLTFC but you wouldn't have noticed on the day. Moving forward, don't be surprised to see the Crown continue to build on the 433 with yet another winger signing, Kerwin Vargas, on the way.
4th Straight Home Win
It's now four straight wins at home for Charlotte FC in what is slowly becoming a venue that is difficult for opponents to get points in. In the beginning of the season, RamÃÂrez and his players stated that they wanted Bank of America Stadium to become a fortress and so far it's looking like it is.
