Lexington Legends News Release

Josh Altmann's home run with two outs in the top of the ninth inning tied the game, and the Hickory Crawdads went on to score another run in the ninth to take a 4-3 win over the Lexington Legends Tuesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the seventh, when the Legends scored two runs without a hit. After Hickory starter Pedro Payano turned in six shutout innings, reliever Adam Choplick walked Ben Johnson and Travis Maezes to start the seventh. Cody Jones sacrificed the runners to second and third, and a wild pitch allowed Johnson to score the first run of the game. Tanner Stanley walked to load the bases again, and D.J. Burt's sacrifice fly to center field scored Maezes, giving Lexington a 2-0 lead.

But the Crawdads came back to tie the game in the eighth. LeDarious Clark doubled, moved to third on a bunt single by Frandy De la Rosa and scored on a wild pitch. De la Rosa stole second, moved to third on a ground out and scored on Yeyson Yrizarri's sacrifice fly to center field.

The Legends took advantage of walks again in the bottom of the eighth. Samir Duenez and Chase Vallot both walked, and after Amalani Fukofuka popped out while trying to sacrifice, Johnson walked to load the bases. Maezes followed with a single to left field, scoring Duenez and putting Lexington ahead 3-2.

Lexington reliever Matt Ditman struck out the first two hitters in the top of the ninth, but Altman launched a game-tying homer over the wall in left field. Ti'Quan Forbes then singled and came around to score the deciding run on a double by Clark.

Joe Palumbo (3-0) got the win in relief. Ditman (0-1) was the losing pitcher. Lexington starter Daniel Concepcion, who moved into the starting role after Foster Griffin was promoted to Wilmington of the Carolina League, turned in three shutout innings, and Franco Terrero pitched a perfect fourth and fifth. Terrero has retired 15 straight batters in his last two relief appearances.

The Crawdads have won the first two games in the series, which concludes Wednesday with an Education Day game. First pitch is set for 10:05 a.m.
