
Suns Take Fifth Straight in 4-1 Win over BlueClaws

HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (25-12) took on the Lakewood BlueClaws (15-22) in South Atlantic League Northern Division play and in game two of their three game series at Municipal Stadium on Tuesday night.
Pitching and timely hitting were the key to victory for the Suns on Wednesday night.
The starter for the Suns was Pedro Avila (2-2). Allowing only one hit, a double to BlueClaws second baseman Josh Tobias, in first inning of the game. The through his next four innings he gave up only one run, walked 1 and struck out four. The one rough patch for Avila was in third inning.
The third started off with a Jiandido Tromp base hit. Tromp later advanced to third on the Emmanuel Marrero base hit. Tromp scored when Josh Tobias grounded into a 6-4-3 double play.
Taylor Guilbeau came into the game in relief of Avlia. In his three innings of action Guilbeau shut down the lakewood hitters. The line for Guilbeau was zero runs on zero hits and he struck out the side in the sixth.
The Suns pitchers (Avila, Guilbeau and Rivera III) combined to give up one run on 10 hits, one walk and nine strike outs.
The Suns scored first on Tuesday night when Max Schrock reached base with a one out base hit. Schrock reached third on the Kelvin Gutierrez base hit then scored off of the Matt Page base hit. The Suns added two more runs in the second but the bats were halted by the BlueClaws bullpen until the seventh.
The starter for the BlueClaws, Tyler Gilbert, threw 7 innings giving up four runs on seven innings. He also walked one and struck out 8. The lone home run in the game was hit by Suns OF Victor Robles in the seventh inning off of Gilbert. Zach Morris came in for Lakewood in the 8th inning and gave up only one hit and walked one.
Pedro Avila was given the win for the Suns Tuesday night; Mariano Rivera III got the save.
The Suns send out RHP Jefry Rodrigues (2-2, 3.24) to faces Lakewood's RHP Shane Watson (2-2, 4.05) in the final game of the series and home stand here at Municipal Stadium. First pitch is slotted for 10:35pm.
