Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive took care of business early on Tuesday night at Fluor Field, scoring all their runs in the first two innings and holding on for a 4-2 victory over the Charleston RiverDogs.

Joseph Monge led off the bottom of the first for the Drive (19-18) with a double to left-center and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Tate Matheny.

In the second inning, Austin Rei led off with a walk against Luis Cedeno (0-1) and moved to second on a single by Chad De La Guerra. Trenton Kemp followed with a three-run home run to left-center, his third of the season, to extend the Drive's cushion to 4-0.

Those runs were plenty for Drive starter Roniel Raudes, who improved to 5-1 by hurling five innings and allowing just one run on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

The RiverDogs (23-14) got on the board in the third inning after an RBI single by Thairo Estrada to score Jeff Hendrix, who drew a leadoff walk.

Angel Aguilar cut the Drive lead to 4-2 in the sixth with an RBI double to plate Chris Gittens, who began the frame with a single.

Bobby Poyner hurled the final two innings for the Drive and didn't allow a baserunner in notching his eighth save of the year.

Monge was the lone Greenville player with a two-hit night.

The rubber game of the series begins at 7:05 on Wednesday night at Fluor Field. The Drive will send left-hander Logan Boyd (4-2, 4.01) to the mound looking for the series win, and the RiverDogs will counter with right-hander Christian Morris (1-0, 1.35).
