SAN ANTONIO (Mar. 30, 2006) - The San Antonio Rampage today announced that the Phoenix Coyotes have recalled defenseman Matt Jones from the American Hockey League (AHL) club.

Jones has registered two assists and 14 penalty minutes (PIM) in 15 games with the Rampage's NHL affiliate this season after four call-ups. The 6-foot, 215-pound blueliner recorded his first NHL point on Jan. 14 with an assist in the Coyotes' 4-3 win at Toronto. He made his NHL debut earlier this season in a 4-1 Coyotes' win at Dallas on Nov. 25.

The 22-year-old rookie has collected 11 points (1 goal, 10 assists) and 44 PIM in 52 games with the Rampage and was named to the PlanetUSA roster for the 2006 AHL All-Star Classic in January, but was unable to participate due to an injury.

The native of Downers Grove, Ill., was drafted by the Coyotes (3rd round, 80th overall) in the 2002 Entry Draft.

The Rampage will celebrate Faith Night tomorrow when they face the Peoria Rivermen at the AT&T Center at 7 p.m. CT. Former dcTalk vocalist and four-time Grammy Award winner Kevin Max will perform live at the Express-News Headlines in the AT&T Center after the game.
