
Bears battle back to gain point in Bridgeport

The BEARS road trip to Bridgeport started out with a bang last night when Joey Tenute netted his 17th goal of the season at the 6:17 mark of the first period. The Sound Tigers answered Tenute's call with a goal of their own at the 12:31 mark of the first. Colliton's goal was scored on the power play to tie the game at one.
HERSHEY scored early to open the second period with Kris Beech's 22nd goal of the season. Graham Mink and Tomas Fleischmann would pick up the assists on the Beech goal. Fleischmann, with the assist, extended his point streak to 6 games. Bridgeport would score three times in the second period with goals from Colliton, Caldwell, and Regier. The teams headed to the locker with the Sound Tigers leading 4-2.
The BEARS would dominated the third period and fight back to take the game to overtime. HERSHEY once again called on Kris Beech to score a big goal and he did at the 2:28 mark of the third. Beech's goal was shorthanded and his second of the evening. Tomas Fleischmann would add the equalizer to tie the game 4-4. Fleischmann's goal was his 25th of the season, tying him for the team lead with all-star forward Eric Fehr.
HERSHEY'S penalties caught up with them in the extra session and Bridgeport scored the game winner off the stick of Justin Papineau. The BEARS were charged with numerous penalties during the overtime period, which played a big part in the Sound Tigers 5-4 overtime victory.
Notables: The BEARS out shot Bridgeport 42-20. Kris Beech stayed hot and finished the night with 3 points and was named the games second star. Beech, in his first six games with the BEARS has 5 goals and 3 assists. Colin Forbes led the team with 6 shots on goal. Daubenspeck replaced Cassivi at the end of the second period and played the final 23:21 seconds of the game, allowing only the overtime power play goal. HERSHEY is 4-0-0-1 in their last five games at GIANT Center.
The HERSHEY BEARS will return to home ice Friday where they are 4-0-0-1 in their last five games to take on the Lowell Lock Monsters. All fans are encouraged to come down on the ice after the game Friday and take part in the annual Kunzler Ham Shoot. The BEARS will take on rival Philadelphia Saturday on Fairview Golf Course night; the first 3,000 fans will get a golf ball compliments of Fairview.
