Countdown To Face-Off

It will be a historic night of hockey tonight in southwest Michigan, as the Kalamazoo Wings host the Reading Royals in the first-ever ECHL home game for the K-Wings. Kalamazoo defeated Reading 4-1 in the K-Wings inaugural ECHL match-up on October 15th.

Springing out the gates, the K-Wings have had an impressive start to the 2009-10 season. Outscoring their opponents 13-3 through three games, the K-Wings best period has been the second, where they out dueled the opposition 10-0.

Held to a single goal on opening night, Reading has found their groove recording 11 goals in their last two contest. The Royals enter Wings Stadium unbeaten in regulation in their last two games (1-0-0-1) and are coming off a 7-3 victory last night against the Toledo Walleye.

Jones Assigned to K-Wings

On Thursday, the San Jose Sharks reassigned forward Matt Jones to Kalamazoo. Jones, who is a native of Kentwood, Michigan, played 46 games last season the AHL with the Worcester Sharks.
